Color Consultation

At The Painting Craftsman, we know that picking colors for your home can sometimes feel confusing and overwhelming due to the large amount of colors available.

Here are some helpful tips to keep in mind when choosing a color that is right for your space.

  • Most people purchase clothing they like to wear and know they look good in. In a similar way, you should decorate your rooms in colors you like and look good in. For example, if you don’t wear red, it may be a good idea to stay away from red on the walls as you likely won’t feel comfortable in that space.

  • If you have a small room in your home, don’t paint it a very light color such as white hoping to make it appear larger. Instead, embrace the space and architecture of your home and use a rich, warm color scheme to make the space seem personal and comforting.

  • Choose a color from a favorite item in the space you are painting. If you have a patterned sofa or rug, or a beloved piece of art, match colors from the largest pattern in the fabric or a large area of the artwork. If you want a neutral color, match a color from the white and beige areas of the piece.

If you are not working with a designer and need help picking a color, we can help. We have experience color consulting on many projects and have used many colors we have loved. The Painting Craftsmen has the tools and resources available to help you make the best decision for your space.
