The Bottom Line:

If you like your kitchen layout and your cabinets are still in good condition, you probably don’t need to replace them to get a new look. Cabinet refinishing keeps your existing cabinetry and transforms the color and finish, making it one of the fastest and most cost-effective ways to upgrade your kitchen.

Refacing makes sense when you want new cabinet doors. Replacement makes sense when the cabinetry itself — or the entire kitchen layout — needs to change. The right choice depends on what you already have, what you want to change, and how much construction you really want to take on.

Refinishing vs. Refacing vs. Replacing: What Do You Actually Need?

These three options can all transform a kitchen, but they solve very different problems.

Cabinet Refinishing

Cabinet refinishing keeps your existing cabinet boxes, doors, and drawer fronts and gives them a new finish. Depending on your cabinets and the look you want, that could mean a new solid color, stain, lacquer, glaze, distressed finish, or another custom treatment.

Refinishing is usually the right choice when your cabinets are structurally sound, you like the existing layout and door style, and you mainly want to change the way they look.

Cabinet Refacing

Cabinet refacing keeps the existing cabinet boxes but replaces the doors and drawer fronts. It’s a great middle ground when your cabinet boxes are still in good condition, but the door style feels dated or no longer fits your kitchen.

At The Painting Craftsmen, we can pair custom-crafted hardwood doors and drawer fronts with professionally refinished face frames for a cohesive finished look.

Cabinet Replacement

Replacement removes the existing cabinets and installs completely new cabinetry. It gives you the most flexibility, but it also comes with more demolition, cost, downtime, and construction.

Replacement is usually the better choice when cabinets are badly damaged, poorly constructed, or part of a larger renovation that changes the kitchen layout.

How Much Does Cabinet Refinishing Cost?

Cabinet refinishing cost depends on the kitchen size, number of doors and drawers, condition of the cabinetry, selected finish, repairs, hardware, and specialty details.

As a broad planning guide:

Option

Typical Planning Range*

Best For

Cabinet Refinishing

$2,000-$7,000+

Sound cabinets that need a new color or finish

Cabinet Refacing

$4,000-$10,000+

*These are general planning ranges rather than quotes for Jacksonville projects. Actual pricing varies considerably by kitchen and project scope.

Cabinet Refinishing with The Painting Craftsmen

Of all the transformations our team takes on, cabinet refinishing is one of our specialties.

Your cabinets are high-touch surfaces that require careful preparation, the right products, specialized application techniques, and a much finer level of finish. Our team of craftsmen approaches each project with care and precision. Cabinet doors and drawer fronts are removed and taken to our refinishing facility, where they can be prepared and professionally sprayed in a controlled environment. Back in your home, we carefully refinish the cabinet boxes and face frames so the entire kitchen comes back together in one cohesive finished piece.

And because our craftsmen work with everything from clean solid-color finishes to stains, glazing, distressing, and other custom treatments, we are not limited to simply painting your cabinets a different color. We can help you find the finish that works with the cabinetry you have, the style of your home, and the kitchen you actually want to live in.

That combination of careful prep, professional equipment, and an artisan’s eye is what turns cabinet refinishing from a quick update into a true transformation.

What Does the Cabinet Refinishing Process Look Like?

Professional kitchen cabinet refinishing is much more involved than putting a coat of paint over an old finish. Cabinets are high-touch surfaces exposed to grease, moisture, cleaning products, fingerprints, and everyday wear. The preparation underneath the finish matters just as much as the color you see on top.

At The Painting Craftsmen, our team typically:

Inspects the cabinetry to understand its material, condition, existing finish, and any repairs needed.

Removes and labels doors and drawer fronts before taking them to our Jacksonville refinishing facility.

Cleans, repairs, and hand-sands the surfaces to create the right foundation for the new finish.

Removes dust and debris so particles don’t get trapped beneath the coating.

Professionally sprays doors and drawer fronts in a controlled shop environment.

Prepares and refinishes cabinet boxes and face frames on-site while protecting the surrounding kitchen.

Reinstalls and inspects everything once the finish is ready.

Most Painting Craftsmen cabinet refinishing projects take approximately three to five days, although larger kitchens and specialty finishes may require additional time.

Cabinet Refinishing Options

One of the best parts of refinishing is how much flexibility you have. Our team of craftsmen can create looks ranging from clean and contemporary to highly detailed and traditional. Popular cabinet refinishing options include:

Solid-color finishes: A smooth, sprayed finish in whites, neutrals, greens, blues, charcoals, or just about any color that works with your kitchen.

Stained or translucent finishes: Preserve the character and natural grain of the wood while updating its tone.

Antique glazing: Adds depth around profiles, corners, and architectural details.

Distressed finishes: Carefully creates the character and appearance of naturally aged cabinetry.

Rub-through and accent glazing: Reveals subtle layers of color or wood along selected edges and details.

Two-tone cabinets: Combine finishes between an island and perimeter cabinets or between upper and lower cabinetry.

This is also where craftsmanship matters most. Glazing, distressing, staining, and other specialty treatments rely on the hand and eye of the person applying them.

What Cabinet Refinishing Trends Are Jacksonville Homeowners Choosing?

White cabinets are not going anywhere, but homeowners have more choices than the all-white kitchen that dominated the last decade. We are seeing continued interest in:

Warm whites, creams, taupes, and other softer neutrals

Sage, olive, navy, and deeper blue-green shades

Natural wood tones and visible grain

Contrasting kitchen islands

Two-tone cabinetry

Timeless finishes that complement the home rather than chasing a short-lived trend

The best cabinet finish is not necessarily the one getting the most attention online. It is the one that works with your countertops, floors, backsplash, lighting, architecture, and the way you want your home to feel. Our team can help you look at the kitchen as a whole before you commit to a color or finish.

How to Prepare for Cabinet Refinishing

A little planning makes the project easier for everyone. Before work begins, we typically recommend that homeowners:

Empty their cabinets and drawers.

Clear countertops and nearby surfaces.

Decide whether they want to replace knobs, pulls, or other hardware.

Save a few inspiration photos or finish examples.

Plan for somewhat limited kitchen access while on-site work is underway.

One advantage of our process is that much of the detailed refinishing happens away from your home. Doors and drawer fronts go to our shop, while the fixed cabinetry stays in place and is refinished on-site. That means less disruption without sacrificing the quality of a controlled spray finish.

Why Refinishing Makes Sense for So Many Jacksonville Kitchens

Jacksonville has plenty of kitchens with cabinets that are solid and functional, but no longer the homeowner’s style. If the cabinetry is still well built and the layout works, replacing everything can mean paying a lot of money to solve a problem you do not actually have.

Cabinet refinishing in Jacksonville allows homeowners to keep the craftsmanship that is already there while updating the part they see every day.

You get a dramatic visual change with less demolition, less waste, and usually significantly less expense than a complete replacement. And when the cabinets genuinely need something more? We will tell you.

If the boxes are sound but the doors need to change, refacing may be the answer. If the cabinets are deteriorated or the entire kitchen needs to be redesigned, replacement may be worth the investment. The best option is the one that gives you the kitchen you want without replacing more than you need to.

See What Your Cabinets Could Become

Before you tear out a kitchen full of cabinetry, let our team of craftsmen take a look at what you already have. We can evaluate the cabinets, talk through refinishing and refacing options, and help you choose a finish that makes sense for your kitchen and your home.

Cabinet refinishing is one of our specialties because it brings together what we do best: careful preparation, technical skill, professional finishing, and a little artistry along the way.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is cabinet painting the same as cabinet refinishing?

Cabinet painting is one type of cabinet refinishing. Refinishing can also include staining, lacquer, glazing, distressing, rub-through effects, and other specialty finishes.

Is it cheaper to refinish or replace kitchen cabinets?

In most cases, yes. Refinishing keeps the existing cabinetry, which avoids much of the material, demolition, disposal, and installation cost associated with full replacement.

How long does cabinet refinishing take?

Most Painting Craftsmen cabinet refinishing projects take approximately three to five days. Larger kitchens and more detailed finishes may take longer.

Should I refinish or reface my cabinets?

Refinish when you like the cabinet boxes and door style but want a new finish. Consider refacing when the cabinet boxes are worth keeping but you want new doors or a different door profile.

Can stained kitchen cabinets be painted?

Yes. Many stained wood cabinets can be successfully refinished with a painted or solid-color finish when they are properly cleaned, sanded, prepared, and coated.

Are professionally refinished cabinets durable?

They can be very durable when the cabinets are properly prepared and finished with professional-grade products suited to cabinetry. The prep work and application process are critical to how well the finish performs over time.

The post The Complete Guide to Cabinet Refinishing in Jacksonville: Options, Process, and Cost first appeared on The Painting Craftsmen.

The Bottom Line:

Paint does not bond to dirt. In Jacksonville’s humid, salt-air climate, mildew, algae, and pollen build up on siding faster than almost anywhere else in the country, and any of it left on the surface becomes a layer between your house and your new coat of paint. Pressure washing before painting is the most important step of painting prep, and skipping it is the most common reason a paint job starts peeling in a year or two.

Florida Weather Does Not Go Easy on Exterior Paint

Jacksonville sits in a humid subtropical climate with more than 50 inches of rain a year and long stretches of heavy humidity from June through September. Summer highs run into the high 90s. Afternoon storms soak everything, and then the sun bakes it dry.

That cycle is hard on your home’s coating. Moisture works into any gap it can find, UV breaks down the binders that hold pigment together, and shaded walls grow mildew fast enough to turn green in a single season. Homes near the water in Ponte Vedra, Atlantic Beach, and Neptune Beach deal with salt air on top of it all.

The good news is that a good, professional paint job handles this. Good paint applied over a dirty surface does not. When homeowners tell us their last exterior paint job only lasted three or four years, the problem usually isn’t the product… It’s what was underneath it.

What Pressure Washing Actually Removes

Your siding might look clean from the driveway, but up close, it’s carrying a layer of buildup that no brush or roller can push through:

Mildew and algae. That green and black staining on your siding is a living organism, and painting over it does not kill it. It just keeps growing under the new coat.

Chalking. As older paint breaks down in the sun, the binder degrades and releases loose pigment. If you rub a faded wall with your hand, and powder comes off, that’s chalk. New paint applied over it bonds to the powder, not to your house.

Pollen, dust, and grime. Spring pollen in Northeast Florida is heavy enough to coat an entire house in just a few days.

Loose and failing paint film. Washing lifts the edges of anything already letting go, which tells us exactly how much scraping the house needs.

Washing also does something a lot of homeowners don’t expect: it exposes small problems before they become larger, costly issues. Soft or rotten wood, failed caulk joints, open seams, cracked stucco, and rust bleed all become visible on a clean surface. Finding those during exterior paint prep costs a fraction of what it costs to find them after the final coat.

DIY Pressure Washing vs Professional Prep

A rented pressure washer and a Saturday afternoon can certainly get a house wet… But that’s not the same as safely cleaning it or prepping it for paint.

Pressure is the wrong tool for most parts of the house

High pressure drives water behind siding, forces it into stucco cracks and window seals, splinters up wood, and can strip the surface of a vinyl panel. Most of the cleaning that matters before painting is chemical, not mechanical. The right approach on a house exterior is soft washing: low pressure, correct detergent, proper dwell time, and a thorough rinse. That kills mildew at the root.

Every surface has its own settings

Cedar shake, coquina, stucco, aluminum, vinyl, and painted wood trim all want different pressure and different chemistry. Getting it wrong on one wall can add repair work to the project.

Drying time is part of the job

Wood needs to come back down to an acceptable moisture level before primer or paint goes on. Painting outside wood that is still holding water traps that moisture under the film, and blistering follows. This is why timing between the wash and the first coat matters as much as the wash itself.

Water has to go somewhere

Runoff, landscaping, screened enclosures, light fixtures, and neighboring properties all need to be accounted for. These are the kinds of considerations that professionals keep in mind.

If you want your driveway to look clean, a DIY pressure wash can certainly get the job done. But if you’re about to spend real money on exterior painting or staining, that wash is load-bearing. It’s worth calling a professional every time.

How The Painting Craftsmen Handle Prep

We are a painting company with a full team of pressure washing specialists on staff. Our sister company, First Coast Home Pros, is a full-service professional home services and cleaning company serving Jacksonville. Because both businesses are owned and operated under the same roof, you get trusted pressure washing and artisan home painting services without having to hire and manage two different companies.

That matters because most painting contractors treat washing as a quick step before the real work starts. We treat it as its own trade.

On a typical exterior project, prep looks like this:

Work With Exterior Painters Who Prep the Right Way

Before we quote your exterior paint project, we want to see what is on your siding. Our estimators walk the property with you, point out the mildew, chalking, and salt film a paint job would otherwise seal in, and scope the wash your home actually needs. That washing work is written into the estimate up front, not added on after we get started.

If you are not ready to paint yet, we’ll still wash it. Roofs, siding, driveways, pool decks, fences, and decks can all be booked on their own, and a clean exterior gives you a much clearer picture of what your paint project will involve when the time comes.

The Painting Craftsmen is licensed, insured, and Lead-Safe Certified.

Selecting the perfect paint color is a big decision, but choosing the right sheen is just as important. Paint sheen refers to how much light a finish reflects. Sheen levels range from flat (no shine) to high gloss (very reflective). The right sheen can enhance durability, hide imperfections, or make cleaning easier, and it affects not only how a surface looks but also how the paint performs over time.

To help simplify the process, our professional painting team has put together this guide on the best sheens and finishes for different areas of your home – both inside and out. Here’s how to choose the best sheen of paint for the rooms in your home:

Flat or Matte Finish

Best for: Ceilings, interior walls

Flat paint hides imperfections well and creates a smooth, even look. Some professional painting contractors recommend it because it provides excellent coverage.

Avoid for: High-moisture areas & exteriors – Flat paint is porous and prone to staining, making it difficult to clean.

Eggshell Finish

Best for: Interior walls, doors

Slightly more durable than flat, eggshell offers a hint of sheen while still masking imperfections. It’s a great all-around option for most interior spaces, and recommended by most good professional painters.

Satin Finish

Best for: Interior trim, wainscoting, bathrooms, exterior siding

More gloss means better resistance to moisture and stains. Satin (or as some manufacturers refer to as “low lustre” in exterior paint) remains one of the most popular finishes for homeowners.

Semi-Gloss Finish

Best for: Shelving, exterior window trim

Semi-gloss is durable, moisture-resistant, and easy to clean, making it great for trim. However, its shinier appearance can highlight surface imperfections. Some manufacturers label this sheen as “soft-gloss” for exteriors.

High-Gloss Finish

Best for: Front doors, accent trim, decorative fixtures

High-gloss is the most durable, highly reflective, and easy to clean. While great for accents, it can highlight imperfections, so it’s often avoided for large interior surfaces.

Selecting the right finish is key to achieving a polished, long-lasting look for your home. Some homeowners enjoy researching paint options, while others prefer guidance from trained and trusted painting professionals, like The Painting Craftsmen. There are many great professional painting services in town, but The Painting Craftsmen is the best house painting company Jacksonville FL homeowners trust with their homes. We’re the trusted painting service for homes in Ponte Vedra, Mandarin, Southside, Riverside, and throughout Jacksonville, and we’d love the opportunity to take care of your home’s painting needs as well!

The post Matte, Satin, or Gloss – How to Pick the Right Paint Finish first appeared on The Painting Craftsmen.

Painting your house is a significant investment of your time and personal resources, so you’ll want to make sure you get it done right. Right? When done correctly, a high-quality paint job can transform your home and protect it from the elements for years to come.

Here are some expert tips to help you achieve a durable and professional-looking exterior paint job:

Begin with a Clean Surface – Before you even think about opening a can of paint, make sure your house exterior is clean. Specifically, pressure washing is an essential first step in any exterior painting project. Dirt, grime, insect nests, salt, sand, and other debris can prevent paint from adhering properly to the siding, making your job harder. A clean surface is critical for achieving a smooth, long-lasting finish, so don’t skip this step. Tip: All the best professional painting companies offer professional pressure washing as part of the exterior painting project, so one option for your house painting project is to hire the best professional painters right from the start!

Don’t Skimp on Prep – Prep work is the key to a paint job that stands the test of time, so don’t skimp. Take the time to remove rusty nails, fill nail holes, scrape and sand peeling paint, repair or replace rotten wood, and caulk and seal gaps and cracks. If you skip prep steps, you’ll just make your painting job take longer. If you’re unsure how to handle these tasks, consider hiring a good professional painting contractor. They’ll have the expertise and tools to prepare your home thoroughly, ensuring the paint adheres well and looks flawless.

Use High-Quality Paint and Materials – The quality of your paint matters. While it might be tempting to save money with cheaper options, low-quality paint often requires multiple coats and doesn’t last as long. Investing in highly pigmented, premium paint and topcoats will save you time and money in the long run. High-quality paint offers better coverage, durability, and a vibrant finish that can withstand the elements.

Plan Your Project Carefully – Exterior painting is not a task to tackle on a whim. If you’re taking on the project yourself, set aside enough time for pressure washing, preparation, and painting. Consider calling on friends or family to help, as the job may involve using ladders, handling heavy equipment, and making unexpected trips to the hardware store. For a hassle-free experience, many homeowners choose to hire professional painters who can handle every aspect of the job efficiently and safely!

Focus on Doing It Right – Painting your home’s exterior is not an ordinary DIY project. It requires specific techniques and attention to detail to ensure a long-lasting result. This includes properly caulking and sealing areas, applying paint appropriately for different types of siding, and working safely on ladders and other elevated surfaces. For these reasons, many homeowners prefer to work with experienced professionals who have the skills and tools to deliver outstanding results.

While there are many painting contractors in the area, The Painting Craftsmen is the best painting company Jacksonville FL homeowners call on, and we stand out as the trusted choice for homeowners throughout Riverside, San Marco, Southside, and along the Beaches. We’re dedicated to delivering top-notch service and results you’ll love. When you’re ready to get started, contact The Painting Craftsmen today and let us bring your vision to life with a paint job that’s built to last.

The post How to Make Your House Painting Job Last first appeared on The Painting Craftsmen.

When it comes to garage upgrades, there’s one investment that stands out for its blend of style, durability, and practicality: a high-performance polyaspartic garage floor coating. If you’re still using traditional epoxy coatings that chip and peel, it’s time to upgrade to this more reliable solution and call on a highly rated painting contractor to install them. Polyaspartic floor coatings are a game changer: they offer superior performance and transform your garage into a clean, functional, and aesthetically pleasing space.

At first glance, polyaspartic coatings may resemble epoxy flooring, but in reality, they surpass epoxy exponentially. Here’s how:

Durability – These coatings are designed to resist abrasion, scratches, and fading, ensuring your garage floor looks incredible even after years of heavy use.

Chemical Resistance – Polyaspartic coatings offer enhanced protection against chemical spills, stains, and fluids from vehicles. This makes them ideal for high-traffic areas that face frequent exposure to harsh substances.

Chip, Crack, and Peel Resistance – Unlike traditional coatings, polyaspartic floors maintain their integrity without chipping, cracking, or peeling, even under hot tires. Polyaspartic floors eliminate these issues, and your garage flooring will look great for years to come, especially when installed by a good local painting company with a specialized garage flooring team.

Slip-Resistance – These floors don’t just look good—they’re easy to clean and feature a slip-resistant surface, enhancing safety without compromising style.

Aesthetic Options – With polyaspartic coatings, you can choose from a variety of designer colors and finishes to create a custom look that aligns with your home’s design and aesthetic.

High-performance garage floors are no longer reserved only for car enthusiasts or mechanic shops. We believe your garage is an extension of your home, and it’s often the first thing you see when pulling in. A bright, attractive, and low-maintenance floor can set the tone for a complete garage makeover, whether you’re reorganizing or transforming the space into something more functional.

While the benefits of polyaspartic coatings are clear, achieving these results is not a DIY task. Installing a polyaspartic floor requires industrial-grade equipment, precise surface preparation, and professional application techniques to ensure a smooth, durable finish. In short, this is a job for the pros, and specifically, for a high-quality painting and garage flooring company with good reviews and high ratings.

The Painting Craftsmen is the best painting contractor and garage flooring installation company Jacksonville FL homeowners trust with their homes, and we’d love to bring our award-winning service to your door too. We’ve served countless homes throughout Riverside Avondale, Ponte Vedra, Southside, and downtown Jacksonville, and we stand by our skill and the quality of our craftsmanship. Give us a call and let’s set up your high-quality garage floor coating estimate today!

The post The Ultimate Garage Upgrade first appeared on The Painting Craftsmen.

Painting trim can dramatically enhance the overall look of a room, adding a crisp, clean, and finished appearance. Whether you’re refreshing old trim or applying a new color, the right approach will ensure a professional result. Here’s everything you need to know about painting trim:

First, gather your materials. You’ll need the following materials to paint the trim in your home. (Or, simply hire the best painting company in your area as they’ll have all these supplies already on hand!)

Primer

Paint (satin or semi-gloss finish recommended)

Painters tape

Drop cloths

Sandpaper (120-grit and 220-grit)

Spackle (for filling holes) and Caulk (for gaps)

Paintbrushes (angled brushes work best for trim)

Putty knife

Clean cloths

Paint tray and liner

Preparation is key. Prep for your trim painting project as follows:

Clean the Trim: Use a clean, damp cloth to remove any dust, dirt, or grime from the trim. For particularly dirty areas, use a mild detergent and water.

Sand the Surface: Lightly sand the trim with 120-grit sandpaper to remove any gloss from the existing paint. This will help the new paint adhere better.

Fill Holes and Gaps: Use spackle to fill any nail holes or dents in the trim. Once the spackle is dry, sand it smooth with 220-grit sandpaper. For gaps between the trim and the wall, use caulk to create a seamless finish. If sanding and spackling seem like messy jobs, they are; it’s often best to simply hire the best local painting contractor and trust the job to the pros!

Tape Off Areas: Use painter’s tape to protect the wall and floor adjacent to the trim. Make sure the tape is pressed down firmly to prevent paint from seeping under it.

Prime the Trim: Apply a coat of primer to ensure better paint adhesion and to cover any imperfections. Let the primer dry completely before moving on to painting.

Then comes actually painting the trim in your home. Follow these steps to paint trim like a pro:

Choose the Right Paint: Satin or semi-gloss finishes are ideal for trim because they are durable and easy to clean. Select a high-quality paint for the best results.

Cut In with Care: Use an angled brush to “cut in,” or paint the edges of the trim first. This technique ensures that the paint gets into all the nooks and crannies. Tip: Professional painters are experts at this, so don’t hesitate to hire high quality painters to do the job.

Paint the Trim: After cutting in, paint the flat surfaces of the trim. Apply paint in long, smooth strokes to avoid brush marks. If necessary, apply a second coat after the first one has dried.

Remove Tape Carefully: Once the paint is dry, remove the painter’s tape slowly to avoid peeling off any paint.

Tips for a Professional Finish: Work in sections, painting one length at a time to maintain a “wet edge” and prevent brush marks. Also invest in high quality paint brushes! Finding the best professional painters in your area and trusting the job to them is also a good tip – they’ll have quality brushes on hand.

Painting trim makes a big difference in the appearance of a room. With careful preparation and the right techniques, you can achieve a flawless finish that enhances the beauty of your space. If it seems like a daunting task, just call on the best professional painting company in your area and trust the professionals to take care of everything.

There are many good professional painters in Northeast Florida, but The Painting Craftsmen is the best painting company Jacksonville FL homeowners have relied on for years. Our customers throughout Nocatee, Ponte Vedra, Atlantic Beach, Mandarin, and Riverside trust us to paint their homes – inside and out – and we’d love to paint yours as well!

The post Complete Guide to Painting Trim first appeared on The Painting Craftsmen.

Your kitchen is the heart of your home, the bustling hub where family and friends gather to share meals and make memories. When the time comes to update the look and feel of the kitchen, you’ll find the best professional painting company and trust the pros to do a high-quality cabinet refinishing job. But how can you prepare for such a project? Use these tips to prepare for your custom cabinet refinishing or refacing project:

Choose Your Finish – When it comes to good professional cabinet refinishing options, the possibilities are endless. The best cabinet refinishers can skillfully apply any topcoat you like, so consider the finish that best suits your style and preferences. Do you envision sleek solid color lacquer, for example, or subtle tinted lacquer? Expert cabinet refinishers offer a wide array of options to bring your vision to life.

Personalize and Customize – Don’t feel overwhelmed by the abundance of choices; the best cabinet refinishing companies can provide guidance with your cabinet finish selections. At The Painting Craftsmen, our technicians possess a deep understanding of paint and stain, color theory, and even design principles.

Get the Kitchen Ready – Once your custom cabinet refinishing project is scheduled, you’ll want to remove items from the kitchen cabinets so that the cabinet refinishers can get to work. Then the painting technicians will take it from there!

Embrace the Process – High quality custom cabinet refinishing doesn’t happen overnight, but rest assured the painting contractors and technicians will work not only skillfully but also efficiently in order to get your cabinetry refinished as quickly as possible without sacrificing quality.

Living in Northeast Florida offers the opportunity to enjoy outdoor spaces year-round, especially the deck and patio. As summer approaches, many Jacksonville homeowners look for ways to get their patios and outdoor living spaces ready for cookouts, parties, and other fun. Use our pro tips to get your deck ready too!

Repair Damages – Start by thoroughly inspecting your deck for any signs of damage. Loose boards, rotten wood, popped nails, rough surfaces, or splinters pose safety hazards for you, your family, and guests. Address these issues by either undertaking a weekend DIY deck refinishing project or enlisting the expertise of good local painting contractors. A good professional painting service like The Painting Craftsmen can efficiently remove rotten wood, replace damaged boards, and otherwise get your deck repaired and prepped for summer activities.

Deep Clean – After cooler temperatures and seasons of unuse, mildew, insect nests, or dirt are likely accumulating on your deck’s surface. A deep clean is essential to remove these issues and to improve your deck’s appearance and even prolong its lifespan. Consider pressure washing the boards to remove stubborn grime and debris. You can either rent a DIY pressure washer and use the appropriate cleaning products or hire a reputable pressure washing service in your area. The best painting companies, including The Painting Craftsmen, can provide pressure washing as part of their service offerings in conjunction with exterior painting.

Apply a Fresh Coat of Paint or Stain – Is the paint peeling or the finish cracking on your deck? Applying a fresh coat of paint or stain not only enhances its aesthetic appeal but also provides vital protection against the Florida elements. When coatings fail, moisture can seep into the wood, leading to rot and structural damage. Entrust this task to the best painting company in your area to ensure optimal results. Professional painting and deck staining services, such as The Painting Craftsmen, offer high-quality workmanship and exceptional customer service. By investing in professional deck refinishing, you’ll extend the lifespan of your deck and maintain its beauty for years to come.

The best way to ensure your deck is ready for summer is to call on the best painting company in your area and trust the work to highly trained professionals. There are good painting contractors nearly everywhere, but The Painting Craftsmen is the best professional painting company Jacksonville FL homeowners trust with their homes and outdoor spaces. We’ve offered our deck refinishing services to countless customers throughout the region, including Atlantic Beach, Ortega, Fleming Island, Jacksonville and beyond, and we’d love to take care of your deck refinishing project as well!

The post Professional Deck Refinishing for Summer first appeared on The Painting Craftsmen.

Embarking on an exterior house painting project can be a daunting task, but with proper preparation and execution, the results will be rewarding. Use these steps to ensure your painting project gets properly prepped so that it goes smoothly and leaves your home looking refreshed and vibrant.

Set Up Your Workspace: Before diving into painting, set a dedicated area in your yard to organize your tools, materials, and equipment. Any great house painter will attest that having everything easily accessible will streamline the painting process and minimize downtime.

Clear the Area: Remove anything “extra” from the surfaces to be painted. For example, take down shutters, light fixtures, house numbers, mailboxes, and anything else that may hinder your painting progress. As all the best local painting companies know, clear workspace allows for efficient movement and efficient application of paint.

Surface Preparation: A clean surface is essential for proper paint adhesion. Thoroughly wash the exterior surfaces to remove dirt, grime, mildew, and other debris. Scrub vigorously with a sponge or rag, then rinse thoroughly to ensure all residue is removed. Ideally, you’ll hire a professional pressure washing service to do this but note that the best house painting companies offer in-house pressure washing.

Surface Repair: Inspect the surfaces for any damage or imperfections and make necessary repairs. Replace rotten siding, repair damaged stucco, and fill in cracks and gaps with caulk. Smooth out rough spots and remove loose paint to create a uniform surface for painting. If you hire a good professional painting company to paint your home, you can trust that the trained professionals will take care of all such prep related repair.

Smooth the Surface: Achieve a smooth surface by scraping off old paint, removing nails and staples, and filling in imperfections with wood putty. Sand the surface to create a smooth, even texture, paying special attention to problem areas.

Mask Off and Protect: Protect surrounding areas by laying down drop cloths to catch paint drips and spills. Use painter’s tape to mask off windows, trim, and fixtures, ensuring clean lines and preventing paint from spreading where it’s not intended.

With the preparation complete, you’re ready to start painting! You’ll then need to choose high-quality primer and latex paint for the best results. If you’re like most homeowners in Ponte Vedra, Riverside Avondale, Mandarin, and throughout Jacksonville, you’d likely prefer to leave the painting – including the prep – to the experts. The Painting Craftsmen is the best professional painting company homeowners rely on for interior painting, exterior painting, cabinet refinishing, and more. With years of experience and a commitment to quality craftsmanship, we specialize in exterior house painting services that will transform your home. Call and let us get going on your project!

The post Exterior Painting Prep Musts first appeared on The Painting Craftsmen.
